The successful candidate(s) (locum) will join a ‘reproduction team’ consisting of five veterinarians (one ACT diplomate, three ECAR diplomats, and one intern), three clinical assistants, three lab assistants, a secretary and a group of dedicated researchers. We are responsible for examining and/or treating a wide range of reproductive conditions in mares and stallions.
Your job
In particular, we offer a broad range of assisted reproductive technologies in mares including embryo transfer, and ovum-pick up as clinical services. During the breeding season, we inseminate approximately 300 mares per season, perform around 150 embryo flushes and transfer approximately 850 embryos (flushed and frozen-thawed ICSI embryos). The appointee will be involved in clinical duties (routine reproductive management of donor and recipient mares, monitoring and breeding management of mares inseminated with frozen semen, embryo flushes,…) and associated teaching (students and intern training). The appointee will also participate in out-of-hours duties (routine weekend work (1/3); obstetrical emergencies).ty.
Requirements
You are a veterinarian with extensive experience of clinical equine reproduction including assisted reproductive technologies and preferably, although not a requirement, a post-graduate diploma in equine reproduction (i.e. European College of Animal Reproduction or American College of Theriogenologists). You are registered in the Dutch Register of Veterinary Medical Practitioners (Diergeneeskunderegister) and are legally authorised to practise your profession in the Netherlands. Conditions of employment
a job for full-time position for a period of 5 months
a working week of 36 - 40 hours and a gross monthly salary between €3.706 and €5.760 (salary scale 10, 11 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU)). The salary is based on a 38-hour working week;
8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;

, you will work alongside approximately 150 veterinarians and a similar number of support staff. Approximately two-thirds of the veterinarians are specialists in various disciplines; the remaining one-third consists of interns, residents and PhD students.
