About the position
The Department of Economics invites applications for two tenure-track positions, at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2027. Outstanding candidates in all economic fields will be considered. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. A tenure-track position requires teaching at the Ph.D. level, original research, and superior teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics in hand by date of hire. A two-year contract for junior faculty is renewable upon successful performance of duties. Salaries for appointments depend upon qualifications. Applications will be accepted via the UC Recruit web site at Browse Open Recruitments or Log In - UCLA Academic RECRUIT . In order to receive full consideration, applications should be submitted by December 1, 2026. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 3. The salary range for this position is $111,400 to $139,200. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. A reasonable estimated salary range for this position is $200,00 to $230,000, inclusive of the salary scale and off-scale salary components. See campus compensation page for additional information. To implement this process, UCLA requires all applicants for Academic Senate faculty positions to complete, sign, and upload the form entitled "Authorization to Release Information" into RECRUIT as part of their application. If the applicant does not include the signed authorization to release information with the application materials, the application will be considered incomplete. As with any incomplete application, the application will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom the department or other hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer) considered for Academic Senate faculty positions will be subject to targeted employment reference checks.
