About the position
Background of the recruitment and description of the project To further promote research on marine plastics, the Center for Ocean Plastic Studies (COPS) at the Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University, is recruiting one Assistant Professor. Work content and job description The successful candidate will join the Field-Driven Research Unit and will engage in field-observation-based research on ocean plastics in collaboration with faculty members affiliated with COPS. We particularly encourage applicants who can contribute to advancing research in any of the following areas within interdisciplinary research projects: the chemical characterization, transformation processes, environmental fate, or environmental behavior of microplastics and associated contaminants. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences (IGSES), Kyushu University. Description Applicants must have a doctoral degree at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is desirable but is not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Job content supplemental explanation As soon as possible on or after April 1, 2027（If an earlier appointment becomes possible at Kyushu University, the start date may be moved forward in coordination with the selected candidate.） Selection Documentation screening (first round) and interview screening (second round).Travel expenses will not be paid. Notification of result After the first round of screening: all eligible applicants for the second round of screening will be informed of the details by e-mail. After the second screening: all applicants will be notified of the results by email.
