Hiring Unit: Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) Course Description: EDES 361-001. Teaching Secondary English 1. Description: Examination of appropriate materials related to the high school English programs; exploration of various techniques of teaching language, literature, writing and dramatics in the secondary school. This course is not Team Taught or offered online. Term: Winter 2027 Course Credits: 3 Location: Education Building (EDUC 113) Schedule: Monday & Wednesday, 11:35 am-12:55 pm Appointment dates: December 21, 2026 - April 30, 2027 Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs): Education: 1.MA in a relevant field (i.e. English Language Arts-Secondary programs). 2.PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset. Experience: 1.Expert knowledge of: - Quebec Education Plan (QEP) Secondary English Language Arts (SELA) competencies & Progression of Learning. - Instructional strategies for ELA. - Methods of evaluation in different ELA contexts . - Lesson designs and learning evaluation situations using Understanding by Design framework. 2.Experience as a Secondary master/teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system. 3.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation . Other: 1.Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level. 2.Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion. 3.Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences. 4.Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset. 5.Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
