Vacancy terms: Part time (30 hours per week) fixed term maternity cover contract until 24 July 2027 Hours per week: 30 About the role We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lecturer in Midwifery to join our School of Healthcare. You will deliver research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, provide timely assessment and feedback, and help develop innovative, inclusive curricula that embed key skills and sustainable development goals. Working collaboratively with students, colleagues and external partners, you will contribute to an excellent student experience through personal tutoring, placement support, employability, outreach, open days and other School activities. You will also provide leadership in learning and teaching, contribute to pedagogical or disciplinary scholarship, and support projects designed to enhance educational practice and student outcomes. The School of Healthcare works closely with health and social care providers and is committed to authentic, research-inspired learning within an inclusive and supportive culture. Its facilities include a dedicated Clinical Skills Unit with simulated hospital wards and homebirth settings, providing a realistic environment in which nursing and midwifery students can develop their knowledge, skills and confidence. About you You will be a midwife registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a degree in Midwifery at 2:1 or above. You will have experience of successful undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, together with evidence of excellent student outcomes, leadership in learning and teaching, and a sustained commitment to developing your practice. You will hold Fellowship of the HEA or an equivalent accredited teaching qualification or be committed to gaining an accredited qualification within an agreed timescale. A relevant Master’s degree or PhD, completed continuing professional development and experience of using research or professional skills to enhance the curriculum would be advantageous. You will be an effective and inclusive communicator who can work independently and collaboratively, develop supportive professional relationships, and deliver teaching through a range of methods. You will bring strong organisational, presentation, coaching, mentoring and pastoral skills, alongside a commitment to high-quality service and equitable outcomes for students.
