Lund University School of Economics and Management is one of eight faculties within Lund University. More than 4 000 students and 450 researchers, teachers and other staff are engaged here in training and research in economic history, business administration, business law, informatics, economics, statistics and research policy. Lund University School of Economics and Management is accredited by the three largest and most influential accreditation institutes for business schools: EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB. Only just over 100 business schools in the world have achieved this prestigious Triple Crown accreditation. The Department of Statistics was established in 1929 and is the oldest department within the School of Economics and Management. The department employs approximately 20 academic staff, researchers, doctoral students and administrative staff, together with around ten teaching assistants. Our research spans a range of statistical fields, including high-dimensional data analysis, Bayesian methods, spatio-temporal modelling and non-Gaussian modelling. We also provide statistics education at all levels. More than 900 students study at the department each year. Further information is available on the department’s website: http://www.stat.lu.se/en We are seeking a part-time Lecturer in Statistics (70%) on a temporary replacement. Duties The successful candidate will teach on the course STAE03 Statistics: Business Analytics. The position also includes the development of teaching materials and instruction relating to regularisation methods within the course. Supervision of undergraduate dissertations in statistics may also be required. Qualifications Eligibility To be eligible for appointment as a Lecturer, the applicant must have demonstrated teaching expertise, hold a Master’s degree or have acquired equivalent knowledge by other means, and possess other qualifications relevant to the subject area and duties of the position. Essential Requirements A PhD in Statistics At least two weeks’ training in teaching and learning in higher education An excellent ability to teach, present and communicate in English Desirable Qualifications Active research in regularisation methods is considered very meritorious Documented pedagogical interest in the teaching of mathematics and statistics is considered meritorious Assessment Criteria For appointment to the position of Lecturer, the assessment shall be based on the extent to which the applicant demonstrates the qualifications required for eligibility. The following criteria will be applied in the assessment of applicants: Good subject knowledge relevant to the content of the position and the duties associated with it. Good teaching ability, including the ability to deliver and develop teaching and other educational activities at different levels and using a variety of teaching methods. Substantial professional experience, or other experience of relevance to the position. In assessing applicants, consideration will be given to their experience, knowledge, commitment and personal qualities, including a proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Terms of Employment This is a temporary replacement position (70% of full-time) for a period of three months. Due to operational requirements, the position must commence on 19 October 2026. Candidates who are unable to take up the position on that date will not be considered for appointment.
