About the position
Postdoc in ICME for Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion
At KTH Royal Institute of Technology, XPRES (the Centre of Excellence in Production Research) is a long-term national initiative to strengthen production science. Established in 2010, XPRES brings together KTH, Mälardalen University, RISE, and Swerim in close collaboration with leading industry to advance sustainable, digitalized, and human-centric manufacturing. We now invite outstanding candidates to join this dynamic, multi-partner research environment as postdoctoral researchers.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to advance the understanding of process-microstructure-property relationships in metal additive manufacturing, with a focus on electron beam powder bed fusion (PBF-EB).
The project investigates how process strategy, geometry and thermal history influence local microstructure and material properties in complex components. Using an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) approach, modeling, process data and experimental characterization will be combined to link processing conditions to material behavior and structural integrity.
Depending on your background, the work may include materials, process and microstructure modeling, process-data analysis, materials characterization and mechanical testing.
The project is based at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and carried out within XPRES, in close collaboration with researchers in materials science, structural mechanics and production engineering. You will have the opportunity to shape the scientific direction and develop new methods at the interface between these fields.
