About the position

Background of the recruitment and description of the project Hiroshima University (HU) herewith makes an open international job offer and seeks to appoint Professor with tenure in the research area of combustion engineering. This position is based on the ‘Policy for recruiting/cultivating excellent faculty members’. The university introduced this policy to create a secure environment in which junior-positioned faculty members can concentrate on their research/education. By assigning a mentor to each newly-recruited faculty member, HU continues to develop an environment where such faculty member can engage himself/herself in research activities independently. Mitsuo Ochi, President of Hiroshima University Please refer to the following URL for details about personnel system reform of Hiroshima University. https://www.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/en/employment/kyoinkobo Work content and job description Field of specialization Energy conversion engineering and related fields, based on mechanical engineering, with a focus on combustion engineering, as well as heat and mass transfer, energy sources and propulsion Teaching responsibilities (1)Undergraduate level (general education courses): Introductory Seminar for First-Year Students, Fuel, Combustion, and Contemporary Society, etc. (2)Undergraduate level (discipline specific courses): Combustion Engineering Fundamentals, Thermodynamics, Statistical and Thermal Physics, Experiments in Mechanical Engineering, etc. (3)Graduate level (master’s programs): Combustion, Special Exercises on Mechanical Engineering, etc. (4)Graduate level (doctoral programs): Special Exercises on Mechanical Engineering, etc. Note: The subjects you are responsible for may be changed or added. Work experience (2)Be able to supervise doctoral students in preparation of doctoral dissertations (3)Have experience in supervising graduate students in a master’s and/or doctoral program(s) in preparation of thesis/dissertation (4)Be able to teach classes and supervise students in English Measures for preventing passive smoking at the workplace Hiroshima University has been entirely smoke-free since January 2020.
