Recruitment for Professor ( Faculty of Molecular Chemistry and Engineering, Field of Polymer Synthesis Chemistry )

About the position

The need to create innovative materials capable of addressing future challenges is growing ever more urgent in order to further develop the strengths of Japan’s materials industry. Since the fundamental properties of polymers are based on their repeating structures, designing the main-chain backbone is the most effective approach to developing innovative polymeric materials. In order to create innovative new polymer materials, innovation in polymerization reactions is needed in the field of polymer chemistry, which draws on cutting-edge concepts in organic synthesis. The Faculty of Molecular Chemistry and Engineering is seeking a Professor who will lead research aimed at addressing these challenges through innovative approaches to polymer chemistry and polymerization reactions.

Work content and job description
Work in:

  • Education and research on the development of novel polymerization reactions based on organic synthetic chemistry for the creation of innovative new materials.
  • Education and research on the creation and functional development of innovative polymer materials that leverage highly distinctive structures.
  • Supervision of students in the above specialized fields.

Subjects to be taught:

  • Undergraduate and graduate courses related to organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and similar fields.
  • Undergraduate and graduate courses related to chemistry.

Work experience

  • This applicant should be actively engaged in undergraduate and graduate education.
  • This applicant should have sufficient experience and a proven track record in teaching organic chemistry and polymer synthesis chemistry.
  • This applicant should have expertise in the design and synthesis of highly innovative polymer materials based on organic chemistry and polymer synthesis chemistry, and be capable of conducting research - from basic to applied levels - on the design of novel main-chain skeletons based on the development of original polymerization reactions, as well as on the development of functional materials.
