Background of the recruitment and description of the project Academic Writing Section Research Associate/ Assistant Professor(non-tenure-track) (in Academic Writing) Work content and job description [English Academic Writing [Common duties for English and Japanese Academic Writing]] (1) Participation in and management of meetings and events organized by the Academic Writing Education Division •All-hands meetings and Writing Forum held at the beginning of each semester •Various meetings of the Academic Writing Education Division •Various events held at the end of each semester (2) Participation in meetings and events related to other duties deemed necessary by the Global Education Center (3) Help organize symposiums operated by the Global Education Center. (4) Carry out other duties and research surveys deemed necessary by the Global Education Center. 【English Academic Writing】* (1)Tutoring (individual writing support, workshops) and administration (branch office management, public relations, orientations, research and training data management, and web management etc.) and tutor training (recruitment, screening, training) at the Writing Center. * If ‘Japanese’ is listed in the ‘Languages of Instruction’ section of the CV, or if the candidate has sufficient proficiency in Japanese, they may be assigned to support English writing instruction through interaction conducted in Japanese. * Research Associates/non-tenure-track Assistant Professors do not teach regular classes. Note: *For both English Writing and Japanese associates or non-tenure-track assistant professors, specific duties are assigned each semester depending on the operational needs of the Academic Writing Program. *For more information about "Waseda University Global Education Center, Academic Writing Section", please refer to the following. https://www.waseda.jp/inst/aw/en Common to all Job Types Annual Salary : 3 million yen ~ 4 million yen Description All of the following requirements must be met at the time of appointment. (1)Hold a master’s degree or equivalent professional accomplishment (2)Have no previous working experience as a research associate(助手) / Assistant Professor (non-tenure-track)(助教) at Waseda university (Those who have working experience as a research associate (研究助手) at Waseda university are eligible to apply.) (3)If you are enrolled in a master / doctoral program, you must be enrolled in Waseda University. (During your employment period, you are not allowed to enroll in a master / doctoral program at other universities.) (4)Have previous experience in tutoring or instructing academic writing at any institution (not as a home/private tutor) (5)(As a person in charge of English Academic Writing) Have a high level of English proficiency to be able to provide instruction regarding academic English academic writing. (As a person in charge of Japanese Academic Writing) Have a high level of Japanese proficiency to be able to provide instruction regarding academic Japanese academic writing. (6)Have the ability to communicate with other staff in both Japanese and English, regardless of which position (in charge of Japanese Academic Writing or English Academic Writing) an applicant applies. * *Note: Meetings and events organized by the Academic Writing Program, as described under ‘[Common to both Japanese Writing and English Writing Instructors],’ are conducted primarily in Japanese Common to all Job Types Nontenured - Non-tenure track Supplementary explanation of compensation Research Funds, Benefits and Commuting Expenses:Provided in accordance with university regulations. Vacations: Vacations determined in acts such as Labor Standard Acts and vacations determined by the university. Selection (1) Document screening: Applicants who have passed the first-round screening will be informed through email by Mid-November 2026. (2) Interview: An interview with the search committee will be held at Waseda Campus by Late November 2026. Note: * Transportation expenses and accommodation fee are not available.
