While our work is rooted in fundamental research, many of WPI-SKCM² efforts aim to advance technologies that address knotty global challenges like growing energy demand and climate change. The main research themes include light–matter interactions and light-induced phase transitions with a focus on the chirality and topology of light, or exploration of nonequilibrium phenomena at water–ice interfaces under high pressure. Candidates are expected to have basic knowledge and technical skills in lasers, optical microscopy, spectroscopy, and nanofabrication, or to be highly motivated to acquire such knowledge and skills. We also welcome applicants who are eager to advance the above research themes by applying their own unique expertise and techniques. Inquiries regarding the research content and direction are welcome. Personal information obtained from application documents will not be used or provided to any third party for purposes other than the necessary procedures related to personnel affairs, salary, and welfare. Email inquiries regarding the application process may be directed to chiral_at_office.hiroshima-u.ac.jp. (Please replace '_at_' with the @ symbol)
