Job Description Summary

The Department of Entrepreneurship invites applications for a
full-time Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor position for
Spring Semester 2027 and Fall Semester 2027. The primary teaching
assignment is multiple sections of ESP 201: Entrepreneurship: From
Ideas to Actions. This is the department's foundational course. We
are looking for someone who combines practical entrepreneurial
experience with solid academic grounding and can turn the
venture-creation process into hands-on, engaging learning.

Job Description

In ESP 201, students learn to identify and validate problems worth
solving. They conduct customer discovery interviews, design value
propositions, and build and test business models using tools such
as the Lean Canvas and the Business Model Canvas. The course also
covers the realities of entrepreneurial work, entrepreneurial
careers and paths (startup, social, corporate, and creative
ventures), and how ventures move from idea to action. The
successful candidate may also teach other courses in the
entrepreneurship core as departmental needs require.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Ph.D. in business, entrepreneurship, or a closely related
field by date of appointment for appointment as Visiting Assistant
Professor; Master's degree in business, entrepreneurship, or a
closely related field by date of appointment or Bachelor's degree
(typically in business, technology, or the sciences; degrees in the
creative and liberal arts may also be considered), plus at least
five years of relevant professional experience in one or more of
these areas: Managerial, executive, or highly applied professional
roles, founding or working in entrepreneurial organizations
(startup, social, corporate, or creative), entrepreneurial
ecosystem activities such as funding, evaluating, or mentoring
ventures, entrepreneurship education, in higher education or in
practice for appointment as Instructor.

Consideration may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience teaching entrepreneurship, especially introductory

or first-year courses.

  • Familiarity with customer discovery, lean startup, and business

model design methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage students through experiential

and active learning.
