About the position
The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We seek candidates to join our renowned team, dedicated to cutting-edge research in neurological diseases, spinal cord injuries, brain tumors/defects, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Opportunities include teaching, mentorship, patient care, and scholarly activities at a top-ranked medical school. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to develop funded research programs, lead research initiatives, and collaborate with a multifaceted group of scientists and clinicians, including those within NIH-funded centers. Selected candidates will also be responsible for delivering high-quality training and teaching, as well as engaging in basic or translational research. Clinician candidates may also have the opportunity to provide clinical care to patients, depending on the department’s needs and the candidate’s training and experience in the relevant clinical area. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have a PhD in Neurosciences, Neurology, or related fields, and/or an MD or equivalent degree. Candidates with an MD or equivalent degree who will have clinical duties must have completed Neurology or a similarly related training program and be board eligible or board certified in Neurology or a related field. Candidates with an MD or equivalent degree who will have clinical duties must either hold or be eligible for a California medical license, or an equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Preferred qualifications Candidates with at least one year of experience in fields such as neurobiology, epidemiology, neuroimaging, neuropathology, biomarkers, or behavioral neurology/cognitive neuroscience related to neurological disorders, or in other related fields, are preferred.
