Background of the recruitment and description of the project The Department of Radiation Health Management, School of Medicine, Fukushima Medical University promotes research and educational activities in the fields of disaster medicine and public health. In recent years, in addition to the mid-to-long-term health issues in the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture following the Great East Japan Earthquake, there is an urgent need for practical support activities in medical and welfare settings, as well as academic verification based on actual conditions on the ground, in response to new disasters such as the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture. In this recruitment, we are seeking an individual who can proactively visit the field in disaster-affected areas and strongly lead support activities and fact-finding surveys tailored to on-site needs. We are looking for candidates who can utilize the advanced perspectives of healthcare professionals such as nurses, clinical laboratory technicians, and psychologists to execute facility support at nursing homes, conduct interview surveys with stakeholders, and collect data on disaster-related deaths. The ideal candidate will enthusiastically work toward solving community issues and generating evidence from the viewpoint of disaster medicine and public health. Work content and job description You will be responsible for field support, research, education, and administration in disaster medicine and public health. Duties include: ○Field Support & Surveys (Practical Approach): ・Provide mid-to-long-term, on-site support in disaster areas (e.g., Noto Peninsula, Fukushima Hamadori) ・Visit welfare facilities (e.g., nursing homes) to implement practical health/medical support to resolve on-site issues. ◎Participation in fieldwork is mandatory for this position. ○Research (Qualitative/Quantitative Data): ・Conduct interview surveys with residents, healthcare workers, and officials, performing qualitative analysis. ・Collect and quantitatively analyze data on disaster-related deaths to develop preventive measures. ・Publish findings, present at conferences, and provide feedback to local governments. ○Education: ・Undergraduate (Medicine): Teach disaster medicine/public health, guide fieldwork, and supervise academic presentations/papers. ・Graduate: Lecture on disaster medicine, public health, community medicine, and preventive medicine from your professional healthcare perspective. Work experience ・Have experience in data analysis using statistical software such as Stata, R, or SPSS. Description [Required Qualifications] (1) Hold a Master degree. (2) Must be highly mobile in the field and have a strong willingness to actively participate in fieldwork, including providing facility support at nursing homes and special nursing homes in disaster-affected areas, and conducting interview surveys with residents, healthcare workers, and government officials. (3) Must possess excellent communication and coordination skills to smoothly manage and advance projects in collaboration with local governments, medical/welfare facilities, and other research institutions. (4) Must possess the ability, enthusiasm, and cooperative spirit to carry out duties related to education and department administration. (5) Have sufficient Japanese language proficiency for daily conversation to communicate effectively with local residents and other relevant stakeholders. [Preferred Qualifications] (6) Experience in epidemiological data analysis related to disaster-related deaths, or qualitative data analysis from interview surveys, etc. (7) Excellent research achievements suitable for providing graduate-level education, including a track record of publishing peer-reviewed original research papers in English as the first author. (8) A strong motivation to proactively compile research findings, present at academic conferences, write papers, and continuously build a record of research achievements in the future. Supplementary explanation of compensation [Working Conditions] ・Salary: Annual salary system (in accordance with the university's salary regulations). ・Working hours: Discretionary labor system for professional work. ・Days off: Saturdays and Sundays. ・Holidays: National holidays and New Year's holidays (December 29 – January 3). [Measures to Prevent Passive Smoking] The entire university premises have been completely smoke-free since FY2006. Furthermore, since FY2018, staff are prohibited from smoking during working hours (excluding breaks) even outside the university premises while stationed at the Medical University and the University Hospital.
